Owen Morgan

Owen Morgan has extensive experience in IT management and operations. Owen currently serves as the VP of DevOps at CafeX Communications, where they have led the deployment of an Intelligent Security Solution for the CFX Challo public cloud platform. Owen has successfully increased cloud efficiencies, reducing ongoing costs by 45% within a year. Owen manages the live and internal environments, which have been migrated entirely to the cloud, resulting in the closure of the on-premise datacenter. Owen has also held the position of Head of Information Technology Operations at AutosOnShowTV, where they were responsible for managing the live environment, network infrastructure, and software releases. Owen implemented a GITOPS methodology, significantly reducing deployment times and achieving zero downtime for the latest developments. Owen successfully migrated a MySQL Database from Rackspace to AWS RDS, allowing for the expansion of the business. Prior to this, Owen served as the IT Director at CafeX Communications, overseeing the direction of IT and supporting the development of SIP and WEBRTC technologies. Owen led the company's transition into the cloud for customer hosted POCs in AWS and VMware. Owen's previous experience includes serving as an IS Manager at ThruPoint, where they managed IT operations covering EMEA and the Americas. Owen played a crucial role in reducing operational costs and aligning IT with the evolving business markets, including the implementation of BYOD and cloud technologies such as AWS. Owen began their career at Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd as an IS Engineer, where they provided support and implemented various IT infrastructure projects. Owen later progressed to the role of Junior IS Engineer, focusing on support for the Birmingham site and managing a Windows XP rollout. Owen's experience also includes serving as an IS Helpdesk Technician, where they gained valuable skills in problem-solving, project management, and system administration.

Owen Morgan obtained a Bachelor's degree (Honours) in Information Technology from the University of South Wales from 2002 to 2006. Prior to that, from 1995 to 2002, they attended Heolddu, where they achieved A Level Computing grade C, Engineering grade B, C & G Programming, and 9 G.C.S.E grade A to C in the field of Computing.

In addition to their formal education, Owen Morgan has obtained several certifications. Owen obtained the "Developing Application using Cisco Core Platforms & APIs" certification from Cisco in July 2022. Owen also holds the "MCPS: Microsoft Certified Professional" certification from Microsoft, which they obtained in December 2012. In April 2012, they obtained the "MCSA: Windows Server 2008" certification from Microsoft. More recently, in December 2022, Owen Morgan obtained the "AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate" certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS), and in June 2022, they obtained the "AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner" certification, also from AWS.
