Michael Dale has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies. Michael currently holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at Caffeine since April 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Head of Video & CDN Engineering at Caffeine from December 2020 to April 2021.

Before joining Caffeine, Michael worked at Crunchyroll for five years, starting in December 2015. Michael held the role of VP Engineering and was responsible for managing the transition to a cloud platform, growing the paid subscriber base, and building an engineering culture. Michael successfully managed a team of over 70 engineers and played a key role in recruitment.

Prior to Crunchyroll, Michael worked at Kaltura for four years. Michael served as the Sr. Director of Product Management, where they aligned product roadmaps with major content publishers and operators. Michael also developed product visions, strategies, and analysis papers, resulting in the growth of Kaltura's customer base. Before that, they held the role of Lead Front End Architect, leading the development of a front end video platform and overseeing a small team of developers.

Earlier in their career, Michael worked at Wikimedia Foundation as a Lead Open Media Engineer, managing community developer participation in online video development for Wikipedia. Michael developed a video playback library and HTML5 video editing solution during their time there. Michael also worked as a Research Associate at UC Santa Cruz, where they co-founded and developed the metavid.org project, focusing on developing a participatory temporal semantic metadata search system for online congressional video footage.

Michael Dale's education history includes earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz from 1999 to 2004. During this time, they double majored in Computer Science and Film & Digital Media. Michael then pursued a Masters in Fine Arts degree in Digital Arts and New Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2004 to 2006.
