Martyn Simpson

Martyn Simpson has extensive experience in asset information management and data analytics, particularly within the water and wastewater sectors. As a Senior Asset Information Engineer at Cairns Regional Council from January 2020 to December 2023, Martyn contributed to asset management initiatives. Previously, Martyn served as Team Leader, Data at Wellington Water, overseeing a team responsible for managing and ensuring the quality of three waters data for client councils. Other roles include Acting Manager of the Information Directorate and 3 Waters Team Leader at Wellington City Council, where Martyn led data analytics teams focused on asset data. Martyn's career began as an Environmental Monitoring Officer at Otago Regional Council and included software development at Hilltop Software. Martyn holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology from Open Polytechnic of New Zealand and has undertaken studies in Mathematics and Computer Science at the Australian Defence Force Academy.
