Caixa Mágica Software (CMS) is a Portuguese SME company, leader in the open source market segments in Portugal. It provides multiple services which include specialised business consulting, development of software projects, training and certification, research and innovation. CMS has developed numerous projects with diverse deployment targets, starting with its own Linux distribution, to firmwares for Android mobile phones, web portals, creation of multiple services for security, embedded systems, open architectures and mobile applications. The Linux software distribution “Linux Caixa Mágica” was born on October 2000 at a research lab of University ISCTE-IUL, winning a prestigious award "Milénio Expresso 2000"​.
