Raquel Ferreira is a Software Developer at Caixa Mágica Software since March 2023. Prior to this role, Raquel served as an Application Development Associate at Accenture Portugal from January 2022 to February 2023, focusing on backend development for microservices, including the implementation of new features and bug fixes, as well as unit and integration testing. Raquel gained internship experience at Faurecia Aptoide Automotive in the summer of 2020, developing the first version of an Automotive Migrator and creating a proof-of-concept to remove GMS warnings in Smali code. Raquel also interned at Xpand IT in the summer of 2019. Raquel holds an Integrated Master's degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, completed in November 2021, and studied at Technische Universität Dresden from October 2018 to March 2019.

Caixa Mágica Software (CMS) is a Portuguese SME company, leader in the open source market segments in Portugal. It provides multiple services which include specialised business consulting, development of software projects, training and certification, research and innovation. CMS has developed numerous projects with diverse deployment targets, starting with its own Linux distribution, to firmwares for Android mobile phones, web portals, creation of multiple services for security, embedded systems, open architectures and mobile applications. The Linux software distribution “Linux Caixa Mágica” was born on October 2000 at a research lab of University ISCTE-IUL, winning a prestigious award "Milénio Expresso 2000". The distribution became rapidly very popular and as the team and demands increased, a spin-off company was created, called "Caixa Mágica Software". Since then, Linux Caixa Mágica has been shipping thousands of laptop and desktop computers in Portugal, covering areas such as Education, Military and Public Administration. It also is the official LPI (Linux Professional Institute) certification provider in Portugal. The company is also actively involved with the Open Source and Research communities, hosting a popular open source Lisbon event, and participated in numerous EU-funded Research projects. Caixa Mágica has strong ties with the Portuguese public administration, participating in the development of the middlewares for the Portuguese Identity Card system, and extending the concept towards its standardisation and compliant with the other European systems. It also has close interactions with the Innovation and Research departments of diverse industry such as Telecommunications and Media (working on Set-Top Boxes and other embedded systems), Energy, Mobile systems (mainly Android and iOS mobile applications, Android embedded systems, and Android TV apps), and Cloud-based platforms for supporting Manufacturing Systems.
