Michael Criste

Michael Criste serves as the Innovation Lab Manager for Design Research at Calbright College, beginning in May 2024. Previously, as Pilot Programs Coordinator for the City of Long Beach from January 2022 to May 2024, Michael implemented an agile procurement process to enhance the implementation of emerging technologies and improve customer experience through research and collaboration. Extensive freelance design experience includes working with clients such as Everwise and the University of Arkansas, where Michael developed graphic and interactive solutions. As a Senior Visual Designer at Knewton, Michael conducted market analysis and user research to foster stakeholder relationships. Early career roles include positions at RCS Capital, Carbone Smolan Agency, Cape Fear Publishing, Madison + Main, and the Smithsonian Institution. Michael holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from UCLA and a BFA in Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University.
