Mahan Lamei's work experience begins in 2005 when they worked as a Geotechnical Engineering Specialist at KMI Consulting Company. Mahan then moved on to a role as a Geotechnical Engineer/Programmer at SoilVision systems ltd. in 2008. In 2009, they became a Geotechnical Construction Site Supervisor at KMS Company. From 2010 to 2014, they worked as a Construction Technology Engineer at Mahab Ghodss Consulting Engineering Company, where they later became a Pipeline route designer from 2014 to 2016. Mahan then took on the role of Bid Manager from 2016 to 2017 and transitioned to become a Project Engineer from 2017 to 2018 at the same company. In 2018, Mahan joined GREEN WIN sro as a Civil Engineer until 2020. In 2020, they founded Macro Model Australia, a company focused on creating reusable pieces of end-user expertise. In 2021, they became an Entrepreneur at Antler and later co-founded CalcTree, where they currently hold the roles of Co-Founder and CTO. Additionally, in 2022, Mahan was selected as a Finalist '22 / Cohort 3 at BOOST, an accelerator program for the built world.

Mahan Lamei holds a Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, which they obtained from the University of Tehran between 2004 and 2007. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Imam Khomeini International University from 2000 to 2003. In 1998 and 1999, they studied Computer Science at Iran University of Science and Technology, although there is no information about whether they obtained a degree in that field. Additionally, Mahan Lamei has obtained certifications in "Performing High Risk Work," "Provide first aid," and "Work health and safety, general construction induction" from SafeWork NSW and the Australian Red Cross.
