Michael Wertz

Michael Wertz is an accomplished Commercial Artist and Illustrator with extensive teaching experience, notably as Chair of the Illustration Program at California College of the Arts since August 2022. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from California College of the Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in French Language from the University of California, Santa Cruz, Wertz has contributed to the educational landscape since teaching Photoshop for Illustration in the late 1990s. As a faculty member at California College of the Arts since 2012, Wertz has developed and taught various courses including Digital Tools and Portfolio. Additionally, Wertz operates as a Printmaker at Inky Oxnard, creating vibrant screenprinted designs. Residing in Oakland since 2000, Wertz is known for a passion for art and a fondness for animals.
