April Powell-Willingham

April Powell-Willingham is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in governance, constitutional law, and international development. Currently serving as a Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice since February 2020, April also holds the position of Chair of the Board of Directors at Partnership for Peace & Transformative Impact since June 2018. Previous roles include working as a Constitutional and Legislative Development Expert as an Independent Consultant and serving as Team Leader and Governance Expert at International Business & Technical Consultants, Inc. April's international experience encompasses leadership positions in various organizations, including Country Director at Joint Aid Management and Head of Governance at UNDP Somalia. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles - School of Law with a Juris Doctor, April also holds a Master's degree in Development Economics and International Development from UCLA and a degree in History with a focus on African History and Politics from UC Santa Barbara.
