Ray Buyco

Ray Buyco has a diverse work experience that spans various fields. Since 2018, they have been working with the California Faculty Association, where they held positions such as CFA-SJSU Chapter President and Political Action and Legislative Chair. Prior to that, Ray worked at San Jose State University as a Senior Lecturer since 2011, teaching courses in Modern Europe, American and World History, and writing. Ray also served as a Faculty Fellow at the SJSU Veterans Resource Center starting in 2021. In addition, Ray has worked as an Adjunct Professor at both De Anza College since 2021 and Ohlone College since 2014. Apart from their academic career, they have been a professional musician and bandleader since 1982. Ray has also been involved in various roles within the American Federation of Musicians, Local 6, and Local 153.

Ray Buyco earned a BA with Honors in Modern European History from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they studied from 2005 to 2007. Ray then pursued further education and completed an MA in Modern European History at San Jose State University from 2007 to 2010.
