Ray McPherson

Research Associate at California Housing Partnership

Ray McPherson has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as a Research Associate at the California Housing Partnership since July 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Geographic Information Systems Programmer Analyst at Renewable Resources Group LLC from November 2018 to July 2022. In this role, they developed geoprocessing tools and models using Python, automated tasks, and analyzed large raster data.

Before that, Ray was a Team Lead and GIS Data Analyst at Apex onsite at Apple from January 2018 to November 2018. Here, they analyzed, validated, and enhanced data, developed and improved workflows, and performed QA and QC of colleagues' work.

From 2015 to 2018, Ray worked at the University of Colorado Denver, first as a Graduate Student, then as a Facility for Advanced Spatial Technologies Lab Monitor, and also as a Geology Assistant. Ray gained experience in teaching, implementing lesson plans, grading assignments, and assisting students.

Ray also worked part-time as an Archaeology Technician at ERO Resources Corporation for a few months in 2016. Ray excavated units using shovels and hand tools and dug shovel tests in a transect.

In 2015, Ray was a Field Archaeologist at the Black Hills Forest Service, conducting fieldwork related to archaeology. Before that, they worked as a Field Archaeologist at Commonwealth Cultural Resources Group, Inc. (CCRG) from September 2014 to November 2014, where they managed Trimble units, took GPS points, and performed survey and shovel testing.

At the University of Wyoming, Ray worked as a Field Archaeologist from May 2013 to September 2014, conducting CRM phase II archaeological work, including survey and excavation. Ray also processed paperwork, entered and corrected data, and participated in report writing.

Ray's earlier experiences include working as a Laboratory Assistant at the Paleoindian Research Lab from September 2012 to March 2014, where they analyzed artifacts and processed data. Ray was also a Museum Studies Intern at the University of Wyoming Anthropology Museum from January 2013 to May 2013, where they led museum tours, created training manuals, and managed artifact displays.

Ray McPherson completed their Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology at the University of Wyoming from 2011 to 2014. They continued their education at the University of Colorado Denver, where they received a Master's degree in Anthropology from 2015 to 2018. Additionally, Ray pursued a Graduate Certificate in GIScience at the University of Colorado Denver from 2016 to 2018.
