Sherin Bennett

Director, Financial Consulting, Housing Finance Training at California Housing Partnership

Sherin Bennett's work experience begins in 2002 as an Assistant Stage Manager at the Utah Shakespeare Festival, where they oversaw rehearsal, production, and performance procedures for plays and musicals over four seasons. In 2004, they worked as a Stage Manager for two Juilliard operas at the Festival Dei Due Mondi in Italy.

From 2005 to 2006, Sherin was a Production Assistant at the New York Theatre Workshop.

Starting in 2006, they served as the Academic Affairs Coordinator at The Jewish Theological Seminary, where they presented data analyses to the Provost and implemented online student course evaluations.

In 2010, Sherin worked as an Economic Development Associate at the Union Square Partnership.

From 2011 to 2013, they were an HPD/HDC Housing Fellow at the New York City Housing Development Corporation, where they created an Access database and estimation methodologies for development costs and funding sources.

In 2013, Sherin became an Adjunct Professor at The New School, co-teaching a graduate-level course on Housing and Real Estate Development.

At Chase, Sherin worked as an Underwriter II in Community Development Banking from 2013 to 2016, where they updated and improved the underwriting model and closed numerous projects.

In 2016, Sherin joined the California Housing Partnership as a Housing Finance Consultant. Over the years, they advanced to roles including Senior Housing Finance Consultant, Associate Director of Housing Finance Training, and currently holds the position of Director of Financial Consulting, Housing Finance Training. Their responsibilities include developing and delivering trainings on affordable housing finance topics and serving as a co-lead trainer for the LISC Housing Development Training Institute.

Overall, Sherin Bennett has a diverse range of experience in stage management, academia, economic development, underwriting, and affordable housing finance.

Sherin Bennett obtained their Master of Science degree in Urban Policy Analysis and Management from The New School's Milano School from 2008 to 2011. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre - Stage Management at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1997 to 2001.
