Jim Santi Owen

Jim Santi Owen is an accomplished music professional with extensive experience in education and cultural affairs. Serving as an Oakland Cultural Affairs Commissioner and a member of the Funding Advisory Committee for the Cultural Funding Program since September 2015, Jim is actively involved in promoting arts and culture in Oakland. Additionally, Jim is a board member at the Swapan Chaudhuri Digital Tabla Library and holds faculty positions at several institutions, including the California Institute of the Arts, California Jazz Conservatory, Ali Akbar College of Music, and Alonzo King's LINES Ballet. As the principal of Jim Santi Owen Music, Inc., a company focused on music production and education, Jim specializes in cross-cultural, traditional, and contemporary music. Educational credentials include an MFA in World Music from the California Institute of the Arts and various certifications in music education.

California Jazz Conservatory

The California Jazz Conservatory is a private music school in Berkeley, California. It is the only independent music conservatory in the United States devoted solely to jazz and related styles of music. Located in the Downtown Berkeley Arts District, the CJC offers Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Jazz Studies. The Conservatory also offers community education classes and workshops for instrumentalists and vocalists and precollege youth programs for beginning, intermediate and advanced musicians.
