Arlen Orchard serves as a Strategic Advisor at EnerTech Capital since March 2021 and holds the position of Chair of the Board of Directors for the California Mobility Center, a consortium focused on the commercialization of innovations in future mobility, starting in July 2019. Prior to these roles, Arlen Orchard had a long tenure at SMUD from 1990 to October 2020, where positions included General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, General Counsel, Assistant General Counsel, and Staff Attorney. Earlier in the career, Arlen Orchard worked as an Associate Attorney at Downey Brand LLP from 1989 to 1990. Arlen Orchard earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of California, Davis and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Government from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Now fully operational, the California Mobility Center (CMC) serves as a one-stop-shop for developing and identifying future mobility technologies, with a comprehensive set of services unique to any other organization in the mobility sector. The CMC is a non-profit, public-private entity being led by global thought leaders in clean technology innovation including autonomous, connected, zero-emission vehicles, infrastructure, and shared and smart mobility for on and off highway use. The CMC provides future mobility innovators and industry incumbents with access to programs and resources that accelerate the pace of commercialization in California and worldwide. CMC’s headquarters located at Army Depot Park in Sacramento offers ideal accessibility to public policymakers and regulators and is in close proximity to leaders in future mobility technology, investors, world-class educational institutions, and award-winning utilities.
