Sarah Barnes

Sarah Barnes is an experienced educator and nonprofit leader with a strong background in environmental studies and education. Currently serving as the Education & Stewardship Director for the California Native Plant Society since March 2024, Sarah has previously held the positions of Director of Education and Program Director for the Sacramento Division at Sierra Nevada Journeys from March 2015 to March 2024. Early in their career, Sarah worked as an Education Coordinator and Organic Farming Apprentice at Soil Born Farms and as a Classroom Teacher with the NYC Department of Education. Additionally, Sarah has experience in grant writing and development through roles at The Doe Fund, Inc. and The Food Bank for New York City. Sarah holds a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies and Spanish from Bates College and two Master's Degrees in Education from Pace University.
