Amanda Carr

Exhibit Developer at California Science Center

Amanda Carr has a diverse work experience background. Amanda started their career in 2011 as a Research Technician in Neuroscience and Behavior at UC Santa Barbara. In this role, they worked on research projects related to neuroscience.

In 2013, they transitioned to Wake Forest University, where they served as a Graduate Student Researcher. During their time there, they completed their Master's project in the laboratory of Dr. Waldemar Debinski, focusing on potential targets for molecular therapy in Glioblastoma. Amanda managed data collection, analysis, and experimental procedures both independently and in collaboration with their research team.

In 2016, Amanda joined the Fleet Science Center as a Science Educator and later became a Senior Science Educator. In these positions, they designed, adapted, and delivered hands-on and engaging informal science education experiences and curricula to preschool and K-12 students in the San Diego area. Amanda also collaborated with education teammates, managers, teachers, and inter-institutional partners to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Since 2018, Amanda has been working at the California Science Center. Amanda started as a Hands-On Science Camp Instructor and then transitioned to the role of Professional Development Specialist. Currently, they hold the position of Exhibit Developer.

Amanda Carr pursued their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biopsychology from UC Santa Barbara, completing their studies from 2007 to 2011. Later, they attended Wake Forest University Graduate School to obtain their Master's Degree in Biomedical Sciences, specialized in the Program in Neuroscience, which they accomplished from 2013 to 2015.
