Claudia Lopez

Claudia Lopez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at California State University, Long Beach, since August 2017, with a strong focus on Global Migration, Displacement, Globalization, Gender & Race/Ethnicity, Political Engagement, Citizenship, and Urban/Rural Space. Prior to this role, Claudia served as an Assistant Professor of Sociology and was an Andrew Mellon Foundation Dissertation-Year Fellow at the Sawyer Seminars on Non-Citizenship. Claudia completed a Ph.D. at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where as a Chancellor's Teaching Fellow, Claudia developed a course centered on Forced Migration, Resettlement, and Resistance in Latin America. Claudia holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Criminology from San José State University and an Associate of Arts degree from Long Beach City College.
