Born in 1953 in Kargı, Hakkı Akil graduated from Galatasaray High School in 1972 and the Department of Development Economics at Bordeaux University in 1977. In 1987-1989, Akil graduated from Ecole Nationale d’Administration, located in Paris, having submitted their thesis titled “Iran-Iraq War and Global Supply of Petroleum”. During his career as a diplomat with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey between 1979 and 2016, he fulfilled the roles of Assistant Secretary and G-20 Sherpa to Prime Minister in 2009-2011. He was appointed as ambassador to Ashgabat, Abu Dhabi, Rome and Paris. Fulfilling the role of Chief Advisor to Chairman at Çalık Holding since 2016, Mr Akil was appointed as a Board Member in 2019.
