Anna Almendrala has a diverse work experience in journalism and marketing. Anna started their career in 2007 as a Marketing Intern at Sojourners Magazine, and later worked as a Marketing Fellow at Brave New Films in 2009. In 2010, they joined HuffPost as a Health Reporter, where they covered various topics including mass trauma events, conducted interviews with patients, and monitored health alerts and news from health agencies. At HuffPost, they also created, produced, and hosted the IVFML Podcast, focusing on infertility and alternative family building.

From 2019 to 2021, Anna worked as a Freelance Health Reporter, contributing to various outlets such as the Guardian, NBC News, Today, Medium.com, and The Daily Beast. Their articles covered a wide range of health and science topics, including disease outbreaks, vaccines, reproductive health, genetics, trauma, race, and health policy. Anna also wrote lifestyle articles on subjects like diet, exercise, weight loss, sleep, and productivity. During this time, they also served as a Keynote Speaker at KCinfertility.

In 2019, they joined Kaiser Health News as a California Correspondent, where they reported on health issues specific to the state until 2021. In 2021, they moved to PRO Unlimited, working as a News Curator for one year. Currently, they are the Audience Engagement Manager at CalMatters, starting in 2023.

Throughout their career, Anna has demonstrated expertise in health reporting, conducting sensitive interviews, and raising awareness about stigmatized medical conditions. Anna has also developed strong relationships with researchers and experts in the field.

Anna Almendrala obtained a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley from 2003 to 2006. During that time, they pursued a double major in Rhetoric and Spanish.
