Paul Sharp

Director of NPI and Manufacturing at Calumino

Paul Sharp has worked in various roles in the technology industry since 1986. Paul began their career as an Apprentice Technician Engineer at BAE Systems, where they studied for an HNC in electronics at Anglia University. During their time at BAE Systems, they also held the roles of Research Engineer and Technician Engineer, where they developed various electronic and optical packaging technologies for applications such as submarine and avionics. In 2000, Paul moved to Bookham Technology as a Senior Development Engineer, where they led the packaging development to deliver the world's first DWDM multiplexer with integrated attenuators. In 2004, Paul took on the role of Senior Development Engineer at Oxford Danfysik Beamlines Ltd. before joining Silverbrook Research in 2005 as Process Development Team Leader. At Silverbrook Research, they led a team of seven Engineers in the development of manufacturing processes for a page wide inkjet printhead. Paul was also promoted to Principal Engineer and Senior Development Engineer, where they improved the printhead reliability with a longer lifetime adhesive and developed a new laser ablation system. In 2011, Paul joined Finisar Corporation as Senior Process Development Manager and Process Development Manager, where they were responsible for managing the product development and scaling up activities for teams in Korea, China and Sydney. Paul also developed the electro-mechanical packaging for two new WSS products with reduced physical size, increased capability and lower cost. Paul's most recent role is Director of NPI and Manufacturing at Calumino, which they began in 2020.

Paul Sharp studied at London South Bank University from 1995 to 1999, where they earned a BEng(Hons) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
