Po-Jui (Ray) Chiu has a diverse work experience. From 2005 to 2014, they have held various roles in different organizations. In 2005, they were an Undergraduate Researcher in the Biomedical and Tissue Engineering Laboratory at the Chemical Engineering Department of National Taiwan University, where they executed a 3-year study with US$60,000 R. O. Po-Jui (Ray) also served as the Chief Choreographer and Team Leader, where they staged various charity performances in support of underprivileged and minority groups on the fringe of the society, choreographed dance routines involving 100 members, and collaborated with two choreographers to train and supervise 20 members for performances with 500+ audience. In 2012, they were a Corporal and Aide-de-camp at the Taiwan Ministry of National Defense. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Research Assistant at the Soft Condensed Matter Physics and 3D Cell Culture Laboratory at Academia Sinica, Taiwan, where they utilized microfluidic paradigms to construct 3D scaffolds with uniform pore sizes and mechanical properties, resulting in advanced micromaterial 3D culture techniques, and improved micro-scaffolds by transforming multi-layered into mono-layered structures that are cell-traceable, allowing expedited observation by phase microscope of cell migration phenomena. Finally, from 2014 to present, they are the CEO and Co-Founder of Calyx, where they develop a versatile sensor platform to interpret the chemicals around our environment and on human breath, providing previously unattainable information, and analyzes data through data interpretation and visualization for analytes pattern recognition, and defines the optimal parameters for the fabrication of high quality biosensors.

Po-Jui (Ray) Chiu received a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 2012. Po-Jui (Ray) then went on to pursue a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, which they completed in 2014.
