Damien Démoulin began their professional career in 2006 as an R&D Intern at Philips, where they improved a micro-contact printing technique for the deposition of antibodies on biosensor chips, achieving better sensitivity of the biosensors. In 2008, they began a PhD Candidate role at ESPCI ParisTech, where they developed an experimental set-up based on magnetic microparticles for precise measurement of actin filaments growth pressure in a protrusion-like geometry. That same year, they also took on a Research Intern role at the University of Manchester, where they differentiated successive stages of tumorigenicity within the same cell line for the first time with infrared microspectroscopy. In 2012, they became a Postdoctoral Research Associate at ESPCI ParisTech. In 2015, they co-founded Calyxia, where they currently serve as CTO. Calyxia designs and produces high-tech capsules that enhance the performance of formulated materials, from petrochemicals to elastomers and house care products.
Damien Démoulin obtained their Diplôme d'ingénieur ESPCI, equivalent to a Master of Science (MSc), from ESPCI Paris - PSL between 2004 and 2008. In 2007-2008, they also completed a Master of Science (MSc) in Biotechnology from The University of Manchester.
