Matthew Silver

Founder & CEO at Cambrian

Matthew Silver has held various roles throughout their career. In 2003, they worked as a Systems Engineer for the Canadian Space Agency, where they designed and implemented a thermal management system for an autonomous greenhouse prototype. From 2005 to 2007, they were a Research Scientist and Fellow at MIT, specializing in emerging technologies. In 2007, they founded IntAct Labs LLC and served as CEO until 2011. During this time, they also held the positions of Director on the Board of Directors and Founder & CEO at Cambrian, a company that develops on-site wastewater treatment systems. In 2015, Matthew became a Technology Pioneer at the World Economic Forum, and in 2018, they became an Unreasonable Fellow, supporting entrepreneurs addressing social and environmental challenges. In 2019, they became a Guest Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Most recently, in 2021, they joined YPO as a member, an organization that connects chief executives globally for learning and collaboration.

Matthew Silver earned a PhD in Engineering Systems from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) between 2007 and 2010. Prior to that, they obtained two Masters degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Technology & Policy also from MIT, from 2003 to 2005. Matthew also holds a BA in Astrophysics and Art History from Williams College, though the specific years of their attendance are unknown. Additionally, they studied at the Collegiate School, though no details regarding the degree or field of study are available.
