Sajith Wimalaratne

Sajith Wimalaratne has extensive experience in various roles related to industrial biotechnology, commercial development, automation, and autonomy. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President of Industrial Biotechnology at Cambridge Consultants, where they lead and oversees biotech-related projects. Prior to this role, Sajith served as the Director of Commercial Development at the same company and was responsible for driving business growth. Sajith also worked as the Head of Automation & Autonomy at Cambridge Consultants, focusing on developing cutting-edge automation and autonomy technologies. Before joining Cambridge Consultants, Sajith was a Strategic Account Manager at SciBite, where they played a crucial role in transforming unstructured text into structured content for data mining and discovery. Sajith also served as the Head of Food and Beverage Development at Cambridge Consultants and worked as a Consultant at Oakland Innovation. Earlier in their career, Sajith worked as a Research Scientist at The New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research Limited, a Lecturer and Senior Teaching Assistant at The University of Auckland, and a Visiting Scientist at the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization in Japan. Additionally, they gained experience as a Microbiology Technician at Assure Quality Limited and as a Research Associate at Sanford Limited. With their diverse experience and expertise, Sajith has developed a strong foundation in the fields of biotechnology, commercial development, automation, and research.

Sajith Wimalaratne attended The University of Auckland from 1999 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Sajith then pursued a Master of Science degree in Food Science from 2003 to 2005 at the same institution. Sajith Wimalaratne furthered their education at The University of Auckland by completing a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Food Science from 2005 to 2009.
