Tom Watson

Tom Watson is an experienced professional in the field of photonics and medical technology, currently serving as Head of Photonics at Cambridge Consultants since October 2017. With a strong background as a Principal Engineer and Senior Physicist, Tom Watson specializes in the innovation and application of new technologies to medical devices, leading multi-disciplinary teams in the development of optical modules and managing the transfer of late-stage prototypes to manufacturing. Prior to this role, Tom Watson completed a PhD at Imperial College London, where significant work included developing advanced optical systems, constructing operating software for optical imaging, and delivering presentations at international conferences. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, a Master’s Degree in Optics/Optical Sciences, and a PhD in Physics, all from Imperial College London. Additionally, Tom Watson has demonstrated leadership skills through various roles, including Optics Postgraduate Representative and Vice President of the Imperial College Canoe Club.
