Cambridge House (Charity)
Cambridge House is a social action centre tackling poverty and social injustice. We deliver intensive frontline services to people facing multiple disadvantage from our community building in Camberwell, Southwark. While working regionally and nationally, we remain firmly rooted in our local neighbourhood as a community asset and hub. Our work reaches more than 100,000 people every year. We use experience gained by working with people forced to the margins of society to challenge public perception and stigma, shape research and knowledge exchange activities, and promote systems change. Our services include specialist legal advice & representation and independent advocacy. We also provide arts & sports services for people with disabilities, empowerment projects for local young people, and innovative ‘Sports for Social Justice’ programmes. All of our services are free. Our Grade II* listed historic building provides office space and venue hire services to fellow civil society organisations, local community groups, and businesses. The income earned is reinvested income into our charitable activities and supporting our residents. We have a local to national ethos, piloting frontline services in South East London and developing them for delivery nationally. We also promote social innovation through research & knowledge exchange, influencing policy from the grassroots up. We are founding members of Locality and the International Federation of Settlements. We are also the UK Partner of PL4Y International.
