Lesley Birch

Deputy CEO at Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust

Lesley began teaching as a PE/Science specialist in a secondary school in London. She then moved on to a middle school in Hertfordshire. 4 years later she was promoted to be KS2 Leader in a Cambridgeshire primary School. Having gained a Masters Degree at Cambridge University, Lesley became Deputy Head in a large primary school. Her next move was to be Acting Headteacher of a primary school leading her to secure the post of Headteacher at Histon & Impington Junior School (HIJS) in 2001. In 2006 and 2013, Ofsted declared HIJS to be “outstanding”.

Lesley became a National Leader of Education in 2009, and subsequently her school was designated as a National Support School, working with other schools. As a result of the outreach work, Lesley was appointed Executive Headteacher of the then struggling Hatton Park Primary School. It has since been awarded a “Good” in 2014.

Lesley was appointed as Executive Principal of the Cambridge Primary Education Trust in September 2014 and is also a Teaching School Council Representative for the Eastern Region.
