Smyth began their career in marketing and product development at Irving Oil in 2008. Renée then joined Override Marketing Group as Senior Vice President in 2008, where they oversaw the company's affinity programs. In 2010, they were recruited by The Bank of Maine to serve as Senior Vice President - Head of Marketing and eRetail. During their five-year tenure at The Bank of Maine, Smyth successfully stabilized and grew the financial institution, increasing revenue and assets by 30%. Renée also established a new brand and product mix, and implemented online banking technology and brand presence. In 2015, Smyth was featured on the ICBA Top 50 Community Bank Leaders Social Media list, out of 7,000 banks.

In their current role at Camden National Bank, Smyth is responsible for the overall customer experience, including brand strategy, customer insights, advertising, public relations, digital experience, events, and community relations. Under their leadership, Camden National Bank has been recognized as one of the best places to work in Maine and one of the top 200 banks in the country.

Renée D. Smyth has a MBA in finance from the University of Hartford and a Bachelor of Science in communication from Ithaca College.
