Ted Smith came to Camp Dudley as a first-generation Cub in 1979. After his camper years, Ted returned as a Cub Leader for two years, eventually becoming the Plebe Division Head for four summers, all under his “guardian, guide and stay,” Willie Schmidt. Ted remains familiar with the daily operations of Dudley as he continues to work on the A-Hut Staff for two weeks each summer. Ted was the Vice President and President of the Camp Dudley Association for four years before joining the Board for a five-year term from 2012-2016.
While his personal Dudley experience has changed his life, it has been watching the impact that Kiniya and Dudley have had on his children that brings Ted back to the Board for a second term. #21064 Margot spent five summers at Kiniya shortly after CDK began its affiliation with Dudley. #22064 Tucker spent five years at Dudley, culminating with a NOLS experience in Wyoming, and #23064 Crosby will be an AL this summer, his seventh at Dudley, including a summer with the German exchange program. Says Ted, “Dudley and Kiniya have shaped my children and me, and I just want to give back for that immeasurable gift.”
