Mark Gretenstein

Head Counselor at Camp Scatico

Mark Gretenstein's work experience begins in 2013 as a Unit Leader at Blue Star Camps. In 2015, they became a Business Intelligence and Analytics Consultant at Thorogood Associates. In 2016, they joined Achievement First as a 8th Grade Math Teacher-in-Residence, and later became a Course Facilitator and a 8th Grade Math Teacher at Achievement First East New York Middle School. In 2018, they started working at Camp Scatico as an Assistant Athletics Director before becoming the Program Director and then the Head Counselor. Currently, they are working as an 8th Grade Math Teacher at Liberty Avenue Middle School since 2019.

Mark Gretenstein completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Quantitative Economics at Tufts University from 2011 to 2015. Mark then pursued a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) with a specialization in Middle Childhood Mathematics at Relay Graduate School of Education from 2016 to 2018. In 2013, Mark studied abroad at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid through the CIEE Study Abroad Program, focusing on Business, Economics, and Culture. Before attending college, Mark attended Ransom Everglades School from 2007 to 2011. In addition to their degrees, Mark obtained certifications such as Mathematics Initial Certificate (Grades 5-9), Mathematics Professional Certificate (Grades 5-9), and Students with Disabilities - Generalist (Grades 7-12) from the New York State Education Department.
