Brent Hobby

Brent Hobby has extensive work experience in the field of information security and compliance. Brent currently holds the position of Manager, Security Advisor Services & Privacy Practice Lead at CampusGuard, where they provide security and compliance services to campus-based organizations. Prior to this, Brent served as the Chief Information Security Officer at the University of Tennessee System, where they were responsible for developing and overseeing information security strategy and governance. Brent also worked as a Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance Consultant at TraceSecurity, providing solutions for protecting critical data assets and ensuring regulatory compliance. Brent has a history with Acxiom, where they held various positions such as Director of Risk and Information Assurance, Director of Information Security, Senior Manager of Enterprise Information Security and Compliance, Information Security Unit Leader, Enterprise Network Services Unit Leader, and Hosting and E-Commerce Unit Leader. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in areas such as compliance management, risk assessment, policy development, and incident response. Brent also has experience in coaching and systems analysis, having worked as an Assistant Head Swimming Coach at Hendrix College and a Systems Analyst at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, respectively.

Brent Hobby completed their undergraduate education from Duke University, where they obtained an AB degree in Classical Studies from 1984 to 1988. During the same period, they also pursued a BS degree in Computer Science at Duke University.

In addition to their degrees, Brent Hobby has obtained several certifications throughout their career. Brent became a Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) from ISACA in June 2019. Prior to that, in September 2018, they acquired the certification of Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) from the PCI Security Standards Council. Brent'searliest certification is the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA, which they obtained in November 2005. Most recently, in April 2021, they became a Cyber Security Maturity Model Certification Registered Professional (CMMC-RP) from The Cyber AB.
