Senior Power Systems Optimization Engineer at Camus Energy

Nick Laws has a diverse work experience, starting from 2007 when they worked as a Project Manager at Eldorado Climbing Walls. Nick then transitioned to Valley Lumber as a Commodity Buyer from November 2007 to April 2011. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a Mountain Guide and Ski & Snowboard instructor at various organizations including International Mountain Guides and Aspen Ski Co.

In 2016, Nick joined the National Renewable Energy Laboratory as a Research Program Participant for a few months. Nick then became a Research Engineer, where they co-developed the REopt API and extended its capabilities to the public until July 2022.

In 2018, they started their Ph.D. program at Webber Energy Group, University of Texas, Austin, and is currently a PHD Candidate. Most recently, in July 2022, Nick joined Camus Energy as a Power Systems Optimization Engineer.

Nick Laws has a strong educational background in engineering and energy systems. Nick completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at Boston University from 2000 to 2005. Afterwards, they pursued a Master's Degree in Energy Engineering at Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, which they completed from 2014 to 2016. Currently, Nick is studying at The University of Texas at Austin, where they are working towards their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Energy System Controls, a program that they began in 2018 and is expected to finish in 2023.
