MJ Deschamps has a diverse work experience in communications and marketing roles. They started their career in 2010 as a Communications and Marketing Assistant/Team Leader for the City of Ottawa. From 2010 to 2013, they worked as a Reporter/Editor for International News Services. In 2013, they held multiple positions including Freelance Copywriter at Benchmark Public Relations, Food Writer at Verb Magazine, and Producer/Web Journalist at Bell Media/CTV Regina. In 2014, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at Brock University. From 2015 to 2017, they served as a Marketing Communications Specialist for The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In 2017, they became a Health Policy and Advocacy Specialist at the Canadian Cardiovascular Society. In 2018, they worked as a Research Communications Specialist at The Royal Mental Health Centre. Since 2019, they have been working at Canadian Blood Services, starting as a Strategic Communications Specialist and later transitioning to Lead positions in Internal Communications and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Communications.

MJ Deschamps holds a Master of Arts degree in Social Justice and Equity Studies from Brock University. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Journalism (High Honours) from Carleton University. Additionally, MJ has obtained certification in The Peter MacDonald Leading with Head and Heart Program for Supervisors and Managers from The Ivey Academy at Ivey Business School in 2023.
