Ian Gallagher

Ian Gallagher is a seasoned marine engineering professional with extensive experience in both project management and systems engineering. Currently serving as a Senior Marine Engineering Project Officer with the Canadian Coast Guard since November 2020, Ian contributes to the Vessel Life Extension initiatives within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Previously, Ian held multiple roles at Babcock Canada Inc., including Manager of the Marine Design Drawing Office and Systems Engineering Manager for Mechanical Combat Systems, focusing on the Victoria Class Submarines. Ian's career began as a Mechanical Engineer at Viking Air Limited, developing modifications for aircraft, and includes early experience as a Marine Draftsman at BC Ferries. Academically, Ian holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria, along with an Advanced Diploma and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Camosun College.
