Andrea D’Addario-Brown

Andrea D’Addario is a School and Clinical Child Psychologist who, in 2009, relocated from Hamilton, Ontario to the high arctic community of Ulukhaktok, NWT as a frontline mental health care provider. Over the past 12 years, Andrea has served in various clinical leadership roles, advocating for mental health and wellness services for Indigenous communities and reducing barriers to service access. In 2017, Andrea transitioned into Health Administration and Management and is presently the Territorial Manager, Mental Health and Community Wellness for the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority. In this role, Andrea leads territorial quality improvement initiatives focusing equitable access to community-based mental health and wellness services with a primary focus on mental health care integration across the continuum of health and social services. Andrea’s portfolio also includes Polysubstance and Addiction services, Community Mental Health Nursing, School-based Mental Health Counselling and Services, and In-patient Psychiatry Services. Andrea also works collaboratively alongside many Indigenous organizations and leaders to ensure equity of access to culturally safe and trauma-informed mental health and wellness services for residents and communities across the NWT.

Through the CCHL Strategic Alliances & Partners, Andrea has recently completed her Masters of Management- International Masters for Health Leadership of McGill’s Desautel’s Faculty of Management and is looking forward to completing her CHE certification. Andrea has also been selected as one of McGill’s Global Health Graduate Scholars and is pursing advanced research focusing on COVID-19 impacts on remote health care providers across the northern territories.
