Stéphane Cardin

Director at Canadian Film Centre

Stéphane Cardin is the current director at the Canadian Film Centre. Prior to this, they spent twelve years as the VP of Industry and Public Affairs at the Canada Media Fund. In this role, they were responsible for maintaining a positive corporate image and ensuring effective relations with industry stakeholders, the CMF's private and public funders, media and the Canadian public. Stéphane also led strategic policy and program development, with an annual program budget of 350 million dollars for development, production and marketing support.

Before their time at the Canada Media Fund, Stéphane spent ten years as the Director of Tax Credits at SODEC - Société de développement des entreprises culturelles. In this role, they oversaw the Quebec government's tax credits for the cultural industries: film, television, dubbing, digital animation and visual effects, sound recording, live entertainment and book publishing, supporting a production volume of over one billion dollars annually. Stéphane managed a team of 15 professionals and three support staff, responsible for the processing of over 2,300 applications annually.

Stéphane has dedicated their career to supporting the Canadian film and television industry. Through their work at the Canadian Film Centre and Canada Media Fund, they have helped to create an environment in which Canadian content can thrive.

Stéphane Cardin has a Graduate Diploma in Communications from Concordia University, a Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurship and Real Estate from McGill University, and has completed the Not-for-Profit Governance Essentials Program and the Summer School in Management of Creativity in an Innovation Society at the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management. Stéphane is also a graduate of the North American Media Executive Leadership Program at the International Institute for Television Leadership.
