Alison Rutka

Alison Rutka has diverse work experience in the field of communications. Alison currently holds the position of Director of Communications at CIFAR since February 2023. Prior to that, they worked at the National Payroll Institute where they served as a Senior Specialist and Team Lead for Brand and Public Relations from May 2020 to February 2023. From October 2015 to May 2020, they were a Communications Specialist at the same institute. Before joining the National Payroll Institute, Alison worked as the Manager of Communications at Forests Ontario from June 2014 to September 2015. Alison also has experience as a Supervisor of Production at Wolters Kluwer CCH Tax, Accounting, and Audit Canada from 2011 to 2014. Additionally, Alison served as a Communications Project Manager at Editors/Réviseurs Canada from May 2012 to April 2013.

Alison Rutka has a diverse education history. Alison obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language & Literature from Western University in 2007. Alison continued their academic journey and earned a Master's degree in Literatures of Modernity from Ryerson University in 2010. In 2011 and 2012, they received certificates in E-Business and Web Marketing as well as Publicity and Public Relations from the University of Toronto.

Throughout their career, Alison Rutka has also engaged in professional development. From 2016 to 2018, they pursued CAE Levels 100-300 from the Canadian Society of Association Executives, specializing in Association Leadership, Member Services, and Operations. Alison further enhanced their business acumen by pursuing courses related to Strategic Branding for the Digital Age and Business Negotiation Strategies for Managers at the Schulich School of Business - York University from 2020 to 2021. Most recently, in 2022, they completed a Certificate in Strategic Agility from the same institution.
