Jason Stajich is a Professor at the University of California, Riverside since July 2009, where Jason also serves as Chair of the Academic Senate. Stajich has been a CIFAR Fellow in the Fungal Kingdom: Threats and Opportunities program since July 2019 and is a core developer of the BioPerl Project since 2001. Previous roles include Section Editor for Software at PLoS One, President of the Open Bioinformatics Foundation, and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. Stajich holds a PhD in Genetics and Genomics and a BS in Computer Science from Duke University, where Stajich also worked as an analyst/programmer at Duke University Medical Center and as a graduate student in the study of fungal evolution. Stajich has experience in software consulting and database design for various organizations.
