Kira Lussier is a Program Officer for the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy at CIFAR, where responsibilities include driving research, training future AI leaders, and promoting collaboration for responsible AI adoption since May 2022. Prior to this role, Kira served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute for Management & Innovation (IMI) UTM, focusing on research promoting the social impact of business, and launching initiatives related to big data and AI. Additional postdoctoral work included projects on unconscious bias at the Institute for Gender and the Economy and synthesizing research on environmental health impacts at the Technoscience Research Unit. Kira’s formative experiences at the University of Toronto spanned roles such as course instructor and doctoral researcher, culminating in a Ph.D. in History of Science & Technology. Kira has secured significant research funding and presented at numerous international conferences. Academic qualifications also include a Master’s in History and Philosophy of Science and Technology from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor’s in History from McGill University.
