Derek Chen, PE, PMP, currently serves as the PMO Project Controls Manager at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories since August 2020. Prior to this role, Derek worked at KATERRA from July 2018 to August 2020, holding positions as Project Controls Consultant, Deputy Project Controls Manager, and Scheduling Manager. With a background at Bechtel National Inc from October 2006 to July 2018, Derek progressed through various roles including Senior Engineering Group Supervisor, Engineering Group Supervisor, Lead Electrical Engineer, Engineering Planner, Construction Cost Engineer, Procurement Engineer, Electrical Field Engineer, and Electrical Systems Engineer. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, obtained in 2006.
