Rebecca Michaels-Walker

Rebecca Michaels-Walker has experience in various roles within the fields of social media and content marketing, ecology, evolutionary biology, media and design, and writing.

Rebecca worked as a Social Media and Content Marketing Specialist at Canadian Science Publishing in 2023.

From 2021 to 2022, they served as a Teaching Assistant in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Toronto.

In 2020, they were appointed as the Media & Design Director at the Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Union at the University of Toronto. In this role, they created engaging media content, analyzed social media analytics, and produced a student guide for online courses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During their time as a Writing Intern at Springbay Studio in 2020, they researched and wrote educational game content for iBiome - Melting Ice, focusing on arctic species and their adaptations to global warming.

In 2017, they worked as an Instructor at the Go North STEM event, organized by Actua in collaboration with the University of Toronto. Their responsibilities included teaching coding to children in grades 3-8 and highlighting its significance in STEM fields.

Rebecca Michaels-Walker pursued their education through various institutions and programs. From 2016 to 2021, they attended the University of Toronto, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Following this, they enrolled in The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education at Toronto Metropolitan University. In 2022, they completed a Science Communication Certificate in RCIS (exact meaning unspecified). Their educational journey continued as they pursued a degree in Publishing from the same institution. This program began in 2021 and is expected to be completed in 2023.
