Merja Ruutu

Merja Ruutu currently serves as the Cancer Information Manager at Cancer Council Queensland since November 2022. Prior to this role, Merja held positions as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at The University of Queensland's School of Veterinary Science from November 2016 to December 2022, and as Scientific Director and Research Bioscientist at Dermcare-Vet from May 2011 to December 2022. Merja's earlier experience includes roles as a Research Officer and Visiting Research Fellow at the Diamantina Institute, University of Queensland from July 2006 to May 2011, and as a Research Associate at the University of Turku from March 2001 to July 2006. Merja Ruutu holds a PhD, MSc, and BSc in Biochemistry from Turun yliopisto - University of Turku, with a focus on pathology and carcinogenesis.
