Jim Norman

Senior Research Group Leader at Cancer Research UK

Jim Norman is a Professor of Cancer Biology at the University of Glasgow and a Senior Research Group Leader at Cancer Research UK since 2009. With a focus on the mechanisms by which integrins and adhesion receptors influence the metastatic cascade, Norman's research has delved into integrin endocytosis and recycling, uncovering how these processes facilitate cancer cell migration and invasion. Previous roles include Deputy Director at Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute and Junior Group Leader at the same institute, as well as a Lecturer at the University of Leicester. Norman's academic journey began with a PhD in Biochemistry from St. Thomas Hospital - University of London, preceded by a Biochemistry degree from the University of Southampton. Additional post-doctoral experience was gained at University College London and the University of Cambridge, alongside earlier research positions at St. Thomas' Hospital Medical School and St. Mary's Hospital Medical School.
