Akshay Jain

Akshay Jain has a diverse range of work experience in various industries. Akshay is currently the Co-Founder & CEO of Cancrie, an Advanced Material company that manufactures novel Cancrie carbons for energy storage devices. Akshay has received funding and grants for their work, including from Techstars, Heritage Group, UNIDO FLCTD, Startup India Seed Fund, Istart Techno Fund, and Istart COVID Fund. Akshay has also won grants and awards, such as the Technip CSR grant and EVangelize Icreate. Additionally, they have been a part of programs like Nidhi EIR, Startup Oasis/CIIE, and is a member of the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA).

Prior to Cancrie, Akshay worked as a Research Fellow at the UN Environment Programme, where they contributed to the Global Assessments Synthesis Report and served as a Coordinating Lead Author for the Global Environment Outlook for youth. Akshay was involved in launching the report and conducted various sessions and webinars to engage the youth community.

Before that, Akshay was the Co-Founder and CTO of Mesotope Pte. Ltd., where they focused on manufacturing advanced nano-material from waste and selling it to battery manufacturers. Akshay also gave keynote speeches and presentations at industry events and conferences.

Earlier in their career, Akshay worked at the Centre of Innovation (Environmental and Water Technology) as a Manager & Research Scientist, where they consulted with multinational companies and small to medium enterprises to increase revenue through innovation and process efficiency. Akshay was also involved in R&D projects.

Akshay's educational background includes a Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore, where their research focused on hydrothermal pretreatment of biomass waste for high-performance nano-carbons. Akshay has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and patents in the field of materials chemistry and surface modification, batteries and supercapacitors, and sustainable material development. Akshay has also mentored undergraduate students and received recognition for their research.

Earlier in their career, Akshay worked as a Research Associate at ETH Zurich, where they investigated carbon dioxide adsorption on surface-modified Amberlite ion exchange resins.

Akshay Jain's education history begins in 1998 at Maheshwari Public School, where they attended from 1998 to 2004. During this time, their degree and field of study are not specified. From 2004 to 2006, they attended Kendriya Vidyalaya, where they completed their Higher Secondary education in the field of Science.

Following this, Akshay Jain enrolled in Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur from 2006 to 2010. Here, they obtained their Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree with a specialization in Chemical Engineering.

Lastly, from 2010 to 2015, Akshay Jain pursued a higher level of education at the National University of Singapore. Akshay completed their PhD in Chemical Engineering during this period.
