Dr. Neelima Thakur is an accomplished health professional currently serving as the Head of Department and General Manager of the Medical Project and Support Services Program at CanKids KidsCan since October 2022, where responsibilities include overseeing cancer project operations and patient support initiatives across India. Previous experience spans multiple roles in research and evaluation, including positions at Parivar Seva Sanstha, where Dr. Thakur managed research efforts and coordinated sales operations, and at the Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India, focusing on infant feeding practices and policy advocacy. Dr. Thakur has also contributed to qualitative and quantitative research as a Manager at Vimarsh Development Solutions and held program officer roles at THE INCLEN TRUST INTERNATIONAL. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Maternal and Child Health from Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University, emphasizing urban health challenges in the Ganda community of Raipur.

CanKids KidsCan - The National Society For Change For Childhood Cancer in India is a National NGO working across the entire spectrum of Childhood Cancer Care. Through our signature program YANA –You are Not Alone – we provide holistic support to a child with cancer and the family, from moment of detection, through diagnosis, treatment and after. We currently operate in 99 cancer centers and hospitals in 22 states and 42 cities across India. Founded in 2004 under Indian Cancer Society, (Delhi), Cankids was registered as an Independent National Society (Not For Profit Charitable Organisation under the Indian Societies Act 1951) in 2012 . We have valid 12A. 80g and FCRA certificates. CanKids enables better standards of treatment and care by partnering with Cancer centers, assessing needs and filling gaps on an ongoing basis, through funding support, providing social support staff, enhancing capacities and driving quality care, research and impact assessment. Through stakeholder engagement and advocacy we aim to ensure that Childhood Cancer is a child health priority in India.
