Stephen Baddeley has extensive work experience in internal audit and risk management. Stephen began their career as a Trainee Auditor at Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council in 1998. In 2004, they joined Cannock Chase District Council as the Chief Internal Auditor and later took on the additional role of Risk Manager. Stephen was responsible for managing the internal audit provision, liaising with audit committees and managers, and compiling and delivering internal audit plans. Stephen also commissioned external support, including IT audit, and issued annual internal audit opinions for both councils. In 2012, they joined Stafford Borough Council as the Chief Internal Auditor, performing similar responsibilities. Stephen's work experience spans over 20 years and showcases their expertise in internal auditing and risk management.

Stephen Baddeley received their Bachelor's Degree in History & History of Science from Lancaster University. Stephen then pursued further education and obtained their CIPFA (Accountancy Professional Qualification) from the CIPFA Education & Training Centre.
