Cherilyn Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Cherilyn started their career at Baptist Health System as a Sr. Team Leader in 1997. Cherilyn then worked at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine as a Desktop Support Specialist, where they managed the operations of the Amcom Project and the USA Mobility Pager Project.

Afterwards, Cherilyn joined AvMed Health Plans as a Workforce Analyst, where they played a key role in achieving service level and productivity performance goals. Throughout their career, Cherilyn has demonstrated expertise in various areas such as project management, training, coaching, customer service, and team leadership.

Cherilyn Smith obtained their Master of Arts (MA) degree in Administration, with a focus on Health/Health Care Administration/Management, from Barry University. Cherilyn attended Barry University from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, they also earned another Master of Arts (MA) degree in Administration from the same institution, attending from 2006 to 2010. In addition to their educational background, Cherilyn has obtained several certifications. In May 2018, they received the Executive Management Certified and Project Management- Lean Process Certified from the Management and Strategy Institute. Cherilyn also achieved the Six Sigma Green Belt Certified from the same institution in May 2018.
