Alvanson So (he/his)

Alvanson So is the Country HR & Head of People Central at Canva. Alvanson has over 7 years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on project management and technical recruitment.

So began their career in human resources at PSG Global Solutions, where they were responsible for streamlining the recruitment process and establishing new procedures and techniques. Alvanson was also a Subject Matter Expert, sharing and transferring knowledge on IT recruitment, and a Trainer, contributing to content and curriculum design.

In September 2012, So joined Nokia as an HR Project Manager. In this role, they collaborated with Nokia's global HR project management office, responsible for planning, communication, execution and integration of global HR programs to the region and country level. Alvanson worked with a variety of stakeholders spanning the entire spectrum of human resources, including recruitment, consulting, compensation and benefits, talent leadership, well being and engagement.

So has been with Canva since April 2019, where they are Country HR & Head of People Central. In this role, they are responsible for all aspects of HR for Canva's employees in their country, including talent acquisition, development and retention, as well as employee relations.

They are on a team with Amy Schultz - Head of Recruitment, Xiaodan Fan - Head of People, Canva China. Their manager is Jennie Rogerson, Global Head of People.
