Jarmi Steyn

Jarmi Steyn is a seasoned professional in the mining and metallurgical industries, currently serving as Chief Operating Officer at Canyon Coal since November 2022, previously holding the title of General Manager. Jarmi has an extensive background, having worked as COO at Somkhele Mine from July 2015 to November 2022, where responsibilities included oversight of operations from operational and health, safety, and environmental perspectives. Prior roles include Group Metallurgical Manager and Acting COO at Keaton Energy Holdings Limited, General Manager - Production at Tendele Coal Mine, and various managerial positions at Riversdale Mining and BHP. Jarmi holds a Master of Science in Operations and Supply Chain Management from the University of Liverpool and a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy from the University of Pretoria.
