CapCell – Innovative Forensic Trace Investigation via Microfluidics and Single-Cell Genomics
CapCell is a Horizon Europe project that revolutionises forensic DNA analysis by combining microfluidics and single-cell genomics to isolate and interpret individual DNA profiles from complex biological mixtures. Coordinated by Maastricht University, the €4.5M project unites 13 partners from 8 European countries to develop a modular forensic toolkit that enhances evidence interpretation, strengthens justice, and supports victims of sexual violence across Europe. CapCell is a 48 month project, running from 01/10/2025 to 30/09/2029.
